Janathon Day 16.

My younger son decided he wanted to go to Richmond Park today.  Great idea, I wasn’t going to argue, a great place where I can get my run in.  I haven’t run in Richmond Park since my very first 10K there 4 years ago and was looking forward to some new scenery.  Unfortunately it took us all quite a while to get going and then the park was teeming with happy January exercisers, walking, running and cycling and with families out on a nice day.  By the time we managed to find a space in the 3rd car park there wasn’t as much time for my run as I hoped.   All the same 30 mins was better than nothing so while my family went off to explore, I set out for my run.  It was great running somewhere new and the dirt tracks are a great surface to run on.  As I’m not overly familiar with the tracks I decided that an out and back run was my best option.  The trouble with out and back runs is that while you are enjoying a long down hill section your brain is dreading the reverse part!  I had an enjoyable run  and the uphill stretch back wasn’t as bad as I had feared.  I must however, have looked sufficiently worn out at the top judging by the sympathetic smiles of other runners going the other way.

I have promised myself to go back and run the full circuit of Richmond Park sometime soon.

  1. sounds like a great run to me 🙂 well done

  2. It’s always good to run somewhere different. I haven’t been to Richmond Park for ages but I always get lost there too.

  3. sounds lovely…haven’t been to Richmond Park for a good 15 years. Some great memories of going there with my Grandad and the dog 🙂

  4. I tend to run out and back too, but why is that when I do that I am always running in to the wind?

  5. Sounds like a lovely session – hills good for endurance, but yes…you know they are coming and dread them!
