Janathon Day 22.
I was a bit late getting going today. Not particularly hung over but sadly, as I’m not 18 any more, staying out until midnight leaves me a little sluggish the next day! My plan was to do a longer run but my left achilles was stiff and sore and as I started running my hamstring on that leg was also pulling. At that point I thought I’d have to give up after a token mile but by 1 mile my legs were feeling much better. The compromise was a 4 mile loop from home round the round pond and back. Hopefully by taking it gently and easing off the mileage my achilles and hamstring will survive the final 9 days of Janathon.
I’m not worried about not getting a long run done at this stage as I’m not in training for any particular race yet. It’s better to build my mileage base, finish Janathon and add long runs in February and March. After all Janathon has already got me 78 miles up on previous years!
I might however, plan a nice interesting long run next weekend to finish janathon in style. Then there’s not too many days left if my legs are completely shot afterwards!
9 days to go…
4.10 miles 41.44 mins
Janathon totals:
22/31 days run 78.73 miles.

Very sensible idea to listen to your body just to ensure you make it to day 31, feel I might have to do the same. The end is nigh!

Love the idea of the interesting long run to finish off in style. I hope your achilles and hamstring love it too.

I was thinking much the same – think in previous years January has always been one of my least productive months re. exercise. Keep up the good work, not long to go! 🙂

I too like the idea of finishing Janathon in style – so unfortunate that the 31st is on the Monday and not the Sunday. But then perhaps that’s the challenge in it – I shall think about this one!

Really?… is it monday finish? Boooo. No long final day runs for me then! Oh and, FWR… you seem to be doing alright in this cold and wet and windy month we’re having!
