The run streak didn’t last long, in fact I haven’t run for 2 weeks.
My excuses are that I got a dreadful sore throat which turned into a horrible snotty cold and lasted 10 days and I really didn’t have any extra energy other than to cope with organising Christmas (and getting my teenage son to revise for his mocks, but that’s another story). Then it was Christmas and not only was I busy cooking, eating and drinking but it was also foul wet weather. We were on the Isle of Wight and everywhere off-road was totally water-logged and boggy. It also felt like it was permanently either dark or misty or both so running on wet twisty country roads was not something I fancied either.
So I haven’t got my legs in gear and warmed up ready for a Janathon runstreak but at least I have my all my excuses practiced and at the ready!
December might have been an almost non-running month for me but I have had a good 2012
- 2 10 K races,
- 4 Half Marathons,
- 1 24 mile race
- My first marathon
- 4 parkruns
- 3 laps of the 10K Thunderrun trail course including one in the dark.
I have also met my goal of running 1000 miles in 2012.
And next year? I’m still thinking about that… but I think a minimum of 1200 miles should be my mileage target.
My running New Year Resolution is to JUST RUN! Every time I think… I want to/I should really/I need to/it would be a good idea to – go for a run… I have to treat the idea as a committment to myself and not let life take over or the excuses creep in such as this evening when I got distracted by my son making mince pies, cooking a turkey curry and then a glass of wine.
