running blog

Today I was accused by the Janathon community on twitter of slacking. And it’s true, today I was.

I didn’t have the energy or drive to get out and run today. Even when it stopped raining and looked quite nice out. I was just plain weary, probably because I’ve been increasing my training but not getting as much sleep as I should. I felt it yesterday at BMF when I struggled to move my legs and pick up any speed.

I procrastinated and even made a cake and cleaned the oven but @jogblog told me that cleaning ovens and making cakes didn’t count as exercise. (I should have taken before and after photos to prove how much a task my oven really was!)

I was reminded that slacking was not an option… Made to feel guilty that I was tempting others to slack and asked for photographic proof of cake!

I ummed and ahhed about getting out for a short run of maybe 2 or 3 miles but in the end having run out of time combined a trip to the shop with a half mile run there and a fast walk home carrying two bags. Now I’m trying (but failing) to get to sleep before 11pm.

The cake was fantastic by the way and was very quick and easy!

  1. Thank you for going. It shut my whining up! 😀

  2. The Janathon community will not shout ‘slacker!’ it will metaphorically offer you an arm to help support a tired body, whisper words of encouragement and congratulate you on getting out at all

  3. Oven cleaning should definitely count. In fact I can’t understand why it’s not a recognised Olympic sport!

  4. I think anything goes in Janathon – and at least one day of slackness should be allowed, especially on day 23!!!!! Cake looks yummy – might need to have a go at that on 1st Feb when I go back to being a couch potato 🙂

  5. Ooooh, just looking at the cake. I love cake, especially choc cake..

  6. Oven cleaning and cooking involves getting off the sofa doesn’t it?
